Not My America

OpCritical is a response to the critical state of America and the world today. Their music, lyrics,
and videos are a mirror of the monster before us, the Demogorgon, which can and will destroy
everything in its wake unless there is a powerful citizen operation to push back. The members
of the band are not important but the message of their music is. Intense, immediate, raw, and
emotional, it is meant to inspire people to get off the couch and protect their fundamental
rights.
On April 10, 2026, OpCritical released its third single and music video, “Not My America”
lamenting on how too many people in America use differences to divide citizens rather than
bring them together. The driving rock beat and screaming guitar solo, along with the catchy
chorus — “this is not my America, divided states of America” — truly drives home how the
divisions in leadership, silence from news cycles, and complicity from politicians have resulted
in an exhausting cycle of conflict and lies.
America is fractured by discord and a lack of civility. Too many of our leaders, who are
supposed to set a good example for the rest of us, exhibit the worst tendencies of human
nature, debasing our very being. “Not My America” marries artistry with civic responsibility,
calling attention to crassness and cruelty that has, sadly become an every day occurence.
“We hope that ‘Not My America’ will provoke people into serious thought and reflection about
the state of the country so things will shift and we can all live the American Dream of acceptance
and gratitude,” said OpCritical. “Cruelty and indifference are poisons that corrode the very
fabric of society, and we cannot allow them to become normalized.”
In response to the dangers currently facing America, OpCritical will regularly release new
songs and videos until the danger is gone. Stay tuned!
